The Pumpkin Contest at the Saturday October 20 Pumpkin Festival is so simple to enter. Just read the information below about what to bring and when to bring your entries. Watch the judging! Admire the entries! Win a ribbon!
Dear Pumpkin Contestant, The entry forms and rules explain how to enter, but here are the key points: - The entry fee for each item is $1.00 per item up to $5.00. Entering more than 5 entries is encouraged, so no fee is charged for those additional entries.
- Fill out a 3x5 card for each entry. This is your way to “talk” to the judges. Make your entry sound unique. Boast about how you grew the pumpkins yourself or how your great grandma brought this recipe from the old country.
- A note to all you cooks... If it has pumpkins in it, then you can enter it. Take a little time to present your entry in a clean attractive container or plate, give it a neat label and a catchy name. Although taste is most heavily weighted in the judging process, points are added for presentation appeal too.
- If you have many entries, feel free to add the additional entries on a separate piece of paper.
- Bring your entry form, entries and your 3x5 cards describing your entries to the First Religious Society between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Friday October 19 or 8:00 to 10:00 am on Saturday October 20.
- We ask that all entries remain on display until the end of the Pumpkin Festival at 4:00 pm.Look for the contest results to be on our web site at pumpkinsonthecommon.org within a few days of the contest.
